LUXE will present the Donegal Connect 2019 closing spectacle on Dunree Head. As the sun sets over the mountains to the West, they will honour the journeys that have been made from the safe deep waters of Lough Swilly. They will honour those who took passage into the unknown waters of the North Atlantic in their search for new worlds. LUXE will take the audience on a soul journey: an “Imramh”, a tale from the Irish Mythologies told by our ancestors that mix stories of sea travel with the journeying of the soul.

As the tides are pulled upwards by the moon it is the destiny of our lost generations to be drawn home by the spirit of Donegal. LUXE will unfold a visual tale using illuminated processional imagery. They will bring us from the depths of sea into a world of wonder. They will take us up into the starry night at twilight in a wild place where the land, the sea and the sky all meet.

This performance will be accompanied by the iconic folk/roots sound of The Henry Girls – Karen, Lorna and Joleen. One of the most popular groups to have emerged from Donegal in recent years, they have performed their wonderful blend of Irish Traditional, Oldtime music and Jazz, accompanied by stunning vocal harmonies, throughout Ireland, Europe and the US.

PLEASE NOTE: The pull of the moon is a processional performance that involves walking at dusk in an illuminated and occasionally fiery environment.
